After Bigg Boss, I hope I'm as lucky as Shilpa: Vindu

Monday, December 28, 2009

Actor Vindu Dara Singh is on cloud nine after winning the third season of television reality show "Bigg Boss". And he hopes lady luck smiles on him the way it did on Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty when she won "Celebrity Big Brother" - the international version of the show in 2007."I am absolutely hoping that my life takes a positive turn just like it happened to Shilpa Shetty when she won the show on an international level. I am confident that after winning the show, I can move forward in my life and career, " Vindu told over phone from Lonavala after winning the show."I wish this boosts my career in the sense that I get better roles with better actors and filmmakers, " said the actor, who was recently seen in "Kambakkht Ishq" with Akshay Kumar. After winning "Celebrity Big Brother", Shilpa had launched her own yoga CDs, cookbooks, became part-owner of India Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals, got plum modelling assignments, launched her own spa and of course, met and married Britain-based businessman Raj Kundra.Vindu was declared "Bigg Boss 3" winner at the grand finale of the show in Lonavala Saturday. He trumped veteran actress Poonam Dhillon and model Pravesh Rana to take home Rs.10 million prize money and a Chevrolet Cruise car. And his happiness knows no bounds. "I have never earned so much money in one day. I feel on top of the world. Let's see what I want to do with it. But I'm sure about one thing...I want to give whatever share I can to my co-contestants because they shouldn't feel left out, " he said. Vindu, son of former wrestling champion and actor Dara Singh, became one of the main TRP-earning contestants for his sudden bouts of anger. He was often the man behind most of the plotting and planning on the show and engaged in many verbal fights with his co-contestants.But the 45-year-old says he has emerged a better person."I think each of us has emerged a better person from the show. It has certainly made a difference to our lives. I have personally become more patient with people. Earlier, if I used to get embroiled into a verbal or physical fight with someone, I won't spare him. But after the show, I'm a calmer person and would rather ask the other person to sit and talk about the matter, " said Vindu."I will also be more prudent with my words. Throughout my life, nobody ever told me to be careful about what I speak and nobody has ever told me that 'aukaat' (status) is a derogatory term - so I will think before saying anything to anyone on the face, " he added.Despite his father's legacy, Vindu couldn't make it big in Bollywod. He made his acting debut with Hindi film "Karan" (1994). Since then he featured in films, but mostly in supporting roles. Later he tried his luck on the small screen by doing TV serials. He featured as Lord Hanuman in the serial "Jai Shri Hanuman", like his father did in the super-hit Doordarshan serial "Ramayan".He also played negative roles in soaps like "Ssshhhh...Koi Hai" and "Karma". He featured in a Punjabi movie "Rab Dian Rakhan" (1996) directed by his father. But he couldn't strike gold with either movies or TV. The actor is also clear that he will stay away from politics."I will never enter politics. It's very hard... (I have) even seen my father struggling with politics when he was a member of parliament. Otherwise I'll be very happy to do anything that I can for the country, " he said.Vindu was earlier married to actress Farah. They have since divorced and have a son Fateh Randhawa. After separating from Farah, he married model Dina Umarova with whom he has a daughter Amelia. Read More....

Lady Waa Waa: Eccentric singer breaks down when presented with plaque for selling 8 million records worldwide

Saturday, December 26, 2009

Overcome: The eccentric singer is emotional after receiving a plaque for selling 8 million records worldwide
Lady Gaga broke down in tears as she received a plaque for selling 8 million records worldwide.
Decked in another dazzlingly weird outfit, the eccentric singer spilled her emotions after receiving the commemorative plaque at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles after the last of her three sold out performances at the venue.
Earlier in the week, she had reflected on her sudden rise to the top, saying: 'A year ago this month I was opening for Natasha Bedingfield and the New Kids on the Block - at this theatre.'
Meteoric rise: Lady Gaga reflected earlier this week on her overnight success
The singer declare herself a 'gothic Tinkerbell', in danger of dying unless her fans scream - and they have obliged during her ongoing Monster Ball world tour.
And she in turn, has put in a performance to remember - whether it's crawling on the floor in a glossy black bustier, or sleek in red vinyl and rhinestone glitter.
But strange as her routines have been, it would come as no surprise given her gig on The X Factor earlier this month, where she asked for a giant bathroom to be built onstage.
The singer's performance in LA - part of her Monster Ball tour - was as bizarrely electric as ever
In the end, she did nothing worse than cavort with a host of dancers in the huge four metre-long bath while performing her latest single, Bad Romance, but the production team behind the show had reason to be nervous.
Just a few months before, at the MTV Awards in New York in September, she had hung from the ceiling covered in fake blood after pretending to stab herself while performing her hit Paparazzi.
The 23-year-old is also notorious for performing in a conical bra that shoots out fireworks.
A relatively sober moment on the show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles
She also recently performed at the Royal Variety show dressed as Elizabeth I - in latex
Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - is also known to insist on a closed set for rehearsals, with insiders revealing she does not want anyone to see her without her make-up on.
But there's no doubt that she's here to stay for now - and the gothic Tinkerbell's light is in no imminent danger of fading.

From Calendar Girls to panto: Kelly Brook camps it up to play Sleeping Beauty in Paul O'Grady's panto

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

She may be busy starring in the West End production of Calendar Girls, but Kelly Brook still found time to star in a pantomime.
The 30-year-old was given the leading role in Paul O'Grady's annual panto Sleeping Beauty last night.
Dressed in a medieval yellow and orange costume with renaissance curls piled on top of her head, Kelly put on a suitably camp performance as she joined a host of stars in the entertaining show.
Kelly has currently being performing six nights a week in West End Calendar Girls alongside Hannah Waterman and Jan Leeming.
But she managed to find time in her schedule to rehearse for the colourful production of Sleeping Beauty on the popular Channe 4 chat show.
After sleeping for a hundred years after being pricked by a spinning needle, Sleeping Beauty is finally roused from her bed by Prince Charming, played by I'm A Celebrity heart-throb Stuart Manning.
The production also starred Loose Women presenter Denise Welch and EastEnders villain Larry Lamb as Sleeping Beauty's parents and Stephen Fry as The Narrator.
Getting into the panto spirit by dressing in drag was comedian Johnny Vegas, who joined Jo Brand and Lisa Maxwell as the three fairy godmothers.
The panto also featured a tap-dancing cameo from Lionel Blair and panto legend Jeanette Krankie as the Nanny.
Coincidentally, Celia Imrie, who played the Wicked Fairy in last night's panto, played Brook's Calendar Girls character Celia in the film version of the play.
O'Grady's annual pantomime has been a regular Christmas staple of his Channel 4 chat show for five years.
While he has cast a host of friends, including Cilla Black and Joan Collins in past productions, the only permanent castmember is comedienne
As he prepares for his chat show to bow out this year on Friday, O'Grady decided to organise his panto one final time.
O'Grady announced in October he would be ending the show after Channel 4 bosses told him they wanted to cut the estimated £14.3milllion budget by 60 per cent.
He said at the time: 'It is likely to go at the end of the year. We can't make it on that budget – it would just be me and the dog.
'We'd have to be in a tiny studio, with not more than 30 in the audience, and we wouldn't be able to attract the kind of guests we get now. I can't believe they want to kill it off, but after six years, perhaps I have to move on. It is such a shame.'

I have worked really hard to get what I'm getting. I'm very passionate about movies and my constant effort is to outdo myself and challenge my acting skills. Priyan plans film on AIDS with Aamir

Saturday, December 5, 2009

After the warm reception to his just released De Dana Dan, Priyadarshan plans to make a film on AIDS with Aamir Khan in a way that’s palatable to the public.
“And why not? Films are meant to generate a mass reaction. No point in making a film with one of the biggest stars of the country which only a handful of people want to watch,” says Priyadarshan. He wants to make films for the masses. Even if it’s about the construction mafia Khatta Meetha with Akshay Kumar and Trisha or the stigma attached to inter-caste marriages in a film with Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu and Akshaye Khanna, he will speak in the language of the common man. Priyan – as Priyadarshan is popularly known – says the romantic rain song with Akshay and Katrina which had been edited for reasons of length will be restored in the prints from Saturday. “I’ve never made films for critics. I make my films, even my so-called artistic ones like Kala Pani and Kanchivaram, for a mass audience. Today commercial success is more important for the survival of our film industry than ever before. Don’t critics want films to do well? Don’t they want the industry to make money so the movie business can get back on its feet? If audiences want to watch happy films who is going to stop them?” Priyan adds, “I’m a film buff. I understand world cinema. I know about Fellini, Ray and Godard. And Satyajit Ray is one of my favourite directors. But I also understand about the film market. We can’t make the films that audiences don’t come to see.” Read More....
