After Bigg Boss, I hope I'm as lucky as Shilpa: Vindu

Monday, December 28, 2009

Actor Vindu Dara Singh is on cloud nine after winning the third season of television reality show "Bigg Boss". And he hopes lady luck smiles on him the way it did on Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty when she won "Celebrity Big Brother" - the international version of the show in 2007."I am absolutely hoping that my life takes a positive turn just like it happened to Shilpa Shetty when she won the show on an international level. I am confident that after winning the show, I can move forward in my life and career, " Vindu told over phone from Lonavala after winning the show."I wish this boosts my career in the sense that I get better roles with better actors and filmmakers, " said the actor, who was recently seen in "Kambakkht Ishq" with Akshay Kumar. After winning "Celebrity Big Brother", Shilpa had launched her own yoga CDs, cookbooks, became part-owner of India Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals, got plum modelling assignments, launched her own spa and of course, met and married Britain-based businessman Raj Kundra.Vindu was declared "Bigg Boss 3" winner at the grand finale of the show in Lonavala Saturday. He trumped veteran actress Poonam Dhillon and model Pravesh Rana to take home Rs.10 million prize money and a Chevrolet Cruise car. And his happiness knows no bounds. "I have never earned so much money in one day. I feel on top of the world. Let's see what I want to do with it. But I'm sure about one thing...I want to give whatever share I can to my co-contestants because they shouldn't feel left out, " he said. Vindu, son of former wrestling champion and actor Dara Singh, became one of the main TRP-earning contestants for his sudden bouts of anger. He was often the man behind most of the plotting and planning on the show and engaged in many verbal fights with his co-contestants.But the 45-year-old says he has emerged a better person."I think each of us has emerged a better person from the show. It has certainly made a difference to our lives. I have personally become more patient with people. Earlier, if I used to get embroiled into a verbal or physical fight with someone, I won't spare him. But after the show, I'm a calmer person and would rather ask the other person to sit and talk about the matter, " said Vindu."I will also be more prudent with my words. Throughout my life, nobody ever told me to be careful about what I speak and nobody has ever told me that 'aukaat' (status) is a derogatory term - so I will think before saying anything to anyone on the face, " he added.Despite his father's legacy, Vindu couldn't make it big in Bollywod. He made his acting debut with Hindi film "Karan" (1994). Since then he featured in films, but mostly in supporting roles. Later he tried his luck on the small screen by doing TV serials. He featured as Lord Hanuman in the serial "Jai Shri Hanuman", like his father did in the super-hit Doordarshan serial "Ramayan".He also played negative roles in soaps like "Ssshhhh...Koi Hai" and "Karma". He featured in a Punjabi movie "Rab Dian Rakhan" (1996) directed by his father. But he couldn't strike gold with either movies or TV. The actor is also clear that he will stay away from politics."I will never enter politics. It's very hard... (I have) even seen my father struggling with politics when he was a member of parliament. Otherwise I'll be very happy to do anything that I can for the country, " he said.Vindu was earlier married to actress Farah. They have since divorced and have a son Fateh Randhawa. After separating from Farah, he married model Dina Umarova with whom he has a daughter Amelia. Read More....
