Thursday, October 29, 2009

Five alleged members of the so-called "Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch" have been charged with stealing more than $3 million (£1.8 million) worth of jewellery and designer clothes from the homes of stars including Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Megan Fox.
Three teenage girls were among those charged after a series of at least 10 break-ins over the last year.bollywood News
They are alleged to have looked at celebrity magazines and paparazzi photographs to decide which items they wanted to steal before using Hollywood star maps to locate the homes of their victims.
Detectives believe they also scoured the internet for stars' schedules to establish when they would be out. music masti
Other victims included Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge of MTV reality show The Hills, Ashley Tisdale who starred in the High School Musical films, and Rachel Bilson from The O.C.
The three girls charged were Diana Tamayo, 19, Courtney Ames, 18, and Alexis Neirs, 18. Two men - Roy Lopez Jr, 27, and Nicholas Prugo, 18 - have also been charged.
Rachel Lee, 18, who was arrested in Las Vegas, is also a suspect in the case but has not yet been charged.
Detectives said the young women all attended the same high school in Los Angeles and had a taste for luxury goods and accessories.
They have seized a laptop which is said to carry incriminating photographs the suspects took of themselves wearing items they had allegedly stolen, including Miss Lohan's blue Rolex watch.
Neiers, who is currently filming a pilot episode for a reality television show, is suspected of being involved in a July burglary at Orlando Bloom's home. But her attorney, Jeffery Rubenstein, said his client "was at the wrong place at the wrong time."
Prugo's attorney, Sean Erenstoft, said his client had a "very limited role" in the break-ins.
"He commends the LAPD for apprehending the major culprits in this case and that property is being returned to the victims," said Mr Erenstoft.
All the suspects are due in court next month.Read More...
